A couple quick ideas/To-do list
Okay, I’ve sucked as a blogger, and I’m sorry. I’m going to try to do better, starting now. So here’s a short list of possible topics. Some are just seeds, others are half-written already, either in my head or my drafts folder. But anyway, here’s a couple ideas. If one or more of these is of interest to you, please let me know and I’ll start with that.
Howtos
- cmus part 2
- Firefox howto: Intro to Stylish
- Fluxbox howto series: Intro to the .fluxbox config files
- Scribus howto: Business cards
User-friendliness series
—
- easy in Linux, impossible in Windows
- areas where we need work
- tying it all back together, what is this “user-friendliness” thing anyhow?
Other
- Why you’re not sticking it to the man when you pirate software
- An open letter to the guy who asked me “how can you sell free software?”
Okay, that’s a decent list, I guess. What do you want to see, folks?
best wishes, happy spring, go Twins, all that shit-
pete

Since I’m more of a meta discussion person (I blame being in academia for so damn long) I would like to see some discussion around your “Other” ideas. Especially the selling of Free (big F) software and the distinction between selling of the actual bits and the selling of services around it.

I like the easy in Linux, impossible/difficult in Windows. Having fully converted to Ubuntu from Windows in the last year, and imagining there are many others in a similar boat, a quick guide comparing “here’s how you did it before in WIndows” and “here’s how you do it in Ubuntu” could be very helpful…I would be interested in contributing to this as well.
